I didn't know that in 2000 governments promised to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and help the billions living in extreme poverty. Hopefully the word will spread and something will be done to help the poverty stricken. I think this is a cause that is do-able, it may not be easy, but it is comprehendable. Just imagine if someone like Oprah Winfrey pledged to live like a 'normal' person for one year. All the money that would have gone into special things such as designer clothes, extravegant foods, worldly trips, etc. etc. would go to helping the poverty stricken. I'm only using her as an example because she does so much already, and I could see her doing something like that. Though, have you seen the video where she didn't know how to pump her own gas? Well, that's not the point. Just imagine how much money that would be, I'm sure it could buy lots of houses for homeless people to live in, then they could concentrate on getting a job instead of worrying where their shelter is going to be for the next nights sleep. How many people would that give a decent meal that might have otherwise ate out of the trash can? How many gallons of water would that give people who would otherwise have polluted water? Just imagine if more then one 'top money earner' did that. Every person can help though, and hopefully this is a cause that will get a dent in it and there will be far less poverty stricken in the world. Let's all join together and stand up on October 15 & 16, and everyday after it. Everyone can make a difference no matter how small. Stand Up because: - Every day 24,000 people die from hunger - Every day more than 100 million children are denied the chance to go to school - Every day 1.1 billion people have to drink polluted water - Every day 8,200 people die due to HIV/AIDS
