Description: This is part 1 of a drive along my favourite road to Corin Dam, approximately 25km south of Canberra. The dam is one of the water supplies for Canberra. The 2003 bushfires went through much of this area & the evidence of their destructive power is obvious through much of the drive. These fires even reached the edge of the suburb that the drive starts in but thankfully no houses were damaged here. The suburbs Chapman & Duffy to the west was not so lucky with over 500 homes lost & the deaths of 4 people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canberra_bushfires_of_2003 Once I reach the dam in the third video you will see the impact of the drought on Canberra's water supply. I was inspired to make this by Deepsouthcycle's videos of his home town & surrounds. |
