Description: This engine was rebuilt at NADC (Nashville Auto Diesel College) during the diesel engine course. Detroit Diesel is prefered by most drivers and fleets because of it's excellent fuel economy (usually up to 10 MPG), A wide maximum torque curve (helps the engine pull better at lower RPMS), Long engine life when run and maintained properly (Engine life can last up to 1,000,000 miles or more). |

jhenrybliek ::: Favorites I went to NADC graduated on dec 18 1996. Learned alot and had a good time best of luck out there folks. I'm pleased to see the program is improving 07-09-20 18:34:06 __________________________________________________
truckinjeff ::: Favorites Hell they've added programs since I left about a year ago. Some of the new programs include Agricultural equipment and alternative fuels (biodiesel, E85, Hybrids) 07-09-21 02:56:48 __________________________________________________

Alisterwolf66 ::: Favorites Don't know about 10mpg... our M915A3 tractors (12.7L, 470hp Series 60, running DDEC III or IV systems) would only manage 6-8mpg, loaded and loaded. And we had more than enough maintenance issues with 'em, primarily bad lift pumps and injectors. Had one actually break the crankshaft, at the pulley/damper, and another crack a cylinder liner (traced to a faulty temperature sending unit, causing an overheat). 07-08-31 23:47:45 __________________________________________________
redatpb ::: Favorites sorry for not clarifying, we did rebuild and run 4 cyl. gas engines, but no diesels. what year did you go to school there, truckinjeff? 07-08-18 01:10:12 __________________________________________________
s172mch ::: Favorites nice job i love detroits up to 10 mpg loaded? 07-08-16 14:17:57 __________________________________________________
redatpb ::: Favorites Man, that sucks. When I went to NADC we didn't get to rebuild any runable engines. The only thing we got to do was set the pumps and valves. 07-08-08 19:28:37 __________________________________________________
truckinjeff ::: Favorites WHAT!? When I went to NADC, we rebuilt a 4 cylinder gasoline engine (which we ran) and the diesel class rebuilt these engines (which everybody had to run before and after the rebuild). I'm not sure why they would stop doing that. Really it's the only way to know if the engine was rebuilt right for sure. I'm sure the school thought that if this engine was to break then it would probably be 25 grand out the window. 07-08-15 16:31:58 __________________________________________________ |
