Description: BoA is an artist from South Korea, who from a young age, has been trained by her record company to be a world artist. She was discovered in 4th grade and began training since 5th grade in singing, dancing, English, and Japanese (keep in mind that she is Korean). BoA didn't make it big at first in Korea, but her company released her Korean Albums sung in Japanese. This was happening during bad sentiments between Japan and South Korea over the world soccer game cup, and despite that she reached the top of the Japanese charts with her music. This really helped fix relations between Japanese and Korean people. BoA kept releasing music in both countries and was always at the top of the charts, and she has become a big celebrity in Japan as well as Korea. Her music kept becoming more popular until finally in 2004 she won the title of Most Influential Asian artist at the MTV Asia Music awards and she was voted favourite Korean artist by Korean people. (note: Japan doesn't take part of the MTV Asia awards) Since her popularity has risen, her Japanese fans have been interested in Korean culture, and Korean fans interested in Japanese culture. Japanese fans have been learning to speak Korean using her songs and also Korean fans learning Japanese. She has given Japan a greater understanding of Korea. And although there are stingy relations between Korea and Japan at the moment, the younger generations don't have these racist biases and hatreds toward one another. BoA's company has announced that BoA is a new type of artist known as a World artist. Their plans are to make BoA the number one artist in China, and to establish a Beijing-Tokyo-Seoul music industry market. After that, they want to make BoA big in the United States and Europe. After BoA they hope that asian artists will have world recognition as American artist do. I was never really into Pop Artists before, but I never noticed the international relations and politics with the media and music industry like this. BoA is already revered as the best foreign act in Japan, and Japan is the second biggest music market right after the US. By the end of the year she is going to release a single simultaneously in China, Japan, and Korea, and it will be sung in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
