RonPauladvocate ::: Favorites but you can have a control on the greater world around you. Each person makes ripples that can cause other ripples. 07-08-05 11:51:12 _____________________________________________________
aaron0883 ::: Favorites Thank you for your friendly comment! 07-08-03 07:39:28 _____________________________________________________
politEgoEgonomics ::: Favorites From a "Galt's Gulch" perspective: "you do not need to convince or conquer the world" "Its a moral crisis,that has to run for once,its undisguised course" "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it.Withdraw your sanction.Withdraw your support" So Mr.AaA you're right on track;keep working,singing,reasonating ie."Living" and you'll be "Here" in 'know' time. ( 8$ Hey, if I read your handle cORrectly your birthday is coming up: Have-A-Happy-One $8 D 07-08-02 10:57:47 _____________________________________________________
bbburton ::: Favorites You seem keep repeating the same refrain; voting changes nothing, and therefore has no effect one way or the other in or on your life. The rest of us live in the real world; effort is what keeps you alive. Delegating, even in abstention, what you have a duty to preform is perilous. You risk your life, liberty, and happiness, as well as that of everyone else. We have all been given a great and wonderful treasure - our freedom and liberty. Don't piss it away. 07-08-01 23:42:00 _____________________________________________________
aaron0883 ::: Favorites A few thousand is several thousand times myself, and even if I was the deciding vote it wouldn't have really changed my life. I live in CA so it is very unlikely that anything I could do would ever really just make it so if I had several thousand friends to help it would make a difference. Nevertheless ... it is never 1 vote, or 10 votes, and even if it were ... it wouldn;t change my life enough to make the effort 07-08-01 21:50:27 _____________________________________________________
bbburton ::: Favorites Senate election 2006, Testor versus Burns, decided by a few thousand votes. Many elections are decided on even fewer votes. It's not my intent to provide you with each and every situation where national elections are decided on narrow margins. Many state elections are decided by a handful of votes. Haven't you found this to be true where you live? 07-08-01 21:21:34 _____________________________________________________
aaron0883 ::: Favorites Well. To that I would say ... whatever makes you happy. However. I have never seen anything that can prove one or 100 votes matter except in very small elections. Like a family vote on where to go for dinner. 07-08-01 21:15:18 _____________________________________________________
bbburton ::: Favorites I find this to be without merit. Giving voice to one's beliefs through the political process, win or lose, is very fulfilling and gives me hope. 07-08-01 20:48:23 _____________________________________________________
bbburton ::: Favorites It is the activity of collective political action that gives credibility and support to the individual's participation. The notion that one or 100 votes get no attention, and presumably do not count, has been proven over and over again to be without merit. You assume that participation in the political process is fruitless, results in failure, and therefore places one's unhappiness outside of one's control. 07-08-01 20:48:02 _____________________________________________________
LibertyUPR ::: Favorites You can save the world - it's quite easy. And if you enjoy doing this (I do) - it's the perfect way to live your life. You choose something else. "And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got..." ;) I don't blame you as long as you don't blame me. But there is also one thing though - when the government will be putting you in jail for NOT harming anyone else - please, admit then that you were wrong ;D 07-08-01 18:01:51 _____________________________________________________ |
